Insulation and air sealing are two of the most effective ways of improving your home’s energy efficiency and your family’s comfort. Fortunately, all residents of Maine are eligible to receive rebates and low-interest financing for these services (and many others) through Efficiency Maine.

Exact rebate amounts can vary based on project sizes and household income, but households of any income level can receive up to $8,000 (or 80% of your project costs). Lakewood Home Energy is proud to be a Residential Registered Vendor of the Efficiency Maine program. By partnering with our insulation company, you can ensure your family receives any and all financial assistance you may qualify for during your weatherization upgrades.

What is Efficiency Maine?

Efficiency Maine plans and administers energy efficiency programs throughout the state. A large portion of their work is a rebate program that provides financial incentives for energy-efficient upgrades in homes and businesses.

There is a long list of eligible upgrades, including household appliances, heating and cooling equipment, heat pumps, and lighting, but one of the largest rebates available to homeowners is for insulation and air sealing, which Lakewood Home Energy specializes in.

Insulation and Air Sealing Rebates in Central Maine

Efficiency Maine rebates can make your air sealing and insulation upgrades much more affordable. They cover a percentage of your total installation cost, usually amounting to thousands of dollars. Rebate percentages vary based on your family’s income, but in general, there are three different categories:

Any Income40% of the project cost, up to $4,000.All homeowners qualify.

Besides income requirements, there are additional restrictions you should be aware of:

  • Each building has a lifetime limit equal to the maximum rebate amount.
  • Low and moderate-income rebates do not apply to new construction or additions.
  • The insulated space must be an area of the home that is heated the entire season.
  • The building must be a single-family house, condominium, two-unit duplex, or mixed-use building. It cannot have a commercial electric meter or have more than two housing units.
  • Upgrades must be installed by a Residential Registered Vendor.
  • Upgrades must meet the Weatherization Requirements Checklist.

The Importance of Working with an Official Vendor

To take advantage of any Efficiency Maine rebates or loans, you must work with a Residential Registered Vendor (RRV). RRVs must follow a strict code of conduct when performing rebate work, which covers everything from maintaining prompt communication with customers to keeping their houses clean. They must also have proof of general liability and workers’ compensation insurance, and have all relevant licenses, certifications, and training.

Lakewood Home Energy is proud to meet all of these requirements and be an official RRV with Efficiency Maine. Through our partnership with this organization, we’ve been able to provide hundreds of homes with high-quality air sealing, building science-backed insulation, and rebates. Whether you live in Madison, Skowhegan, Rangeley, or Carrabassett Valley, we’re excited to help make your home more energy efficient, comfortable, and affordable.
